The way I managed to give this book 4 stars is beyond me. If I had to describe this book in one word it would be Ragebait. I saw a review of someone saying that they predicted everything and the only person who couldn’t see anything coming was Kiva, that basically summarizes the plot of this book.

It was almost like Kiva managed to lose her mind, and all her brain cells shriveled up and died between this the book and the previous one. Not a single decision Kiva made was well thought out and everything she did contradicted her character in the first book.

Overall, reading this book had me so mad that I wanted to stab my eyes out half the time and jump through the pages to strangle the characters the other half. However, I am a mood reader and apparently someone who enjoys having high blood pressure because I had more fun reading this book than the first one. I just wish the author had made the characters a little less idiotic.

this was disappointing.
this plot could’ve go in so many ways but the author decided the worst one. once again, i saw it coming, the only one that couldn’t see anything coming was kiva. Lynette decided to turn the main character into the dumbest person i’ve ever seen, changing completely the cautious and smart kiva that we saw in the first book.
you can make a stupid mistake of course, but kiva decided to make every bad decision that she could make, f*cking up everything for four hundred pages straight.
about the ending: it was not a genius plan, it was actually an impossible plan, but they just had a really dumb person that could do all the hard work for them. i just can’t handle reading really obvious plot that could’ve been avoided if kiva thought for two seconds about something that didn’t involve jaren.
i’m mad, mad asf, the only reason i’m not giving this less than two stars it’s because the rest of the characters have a place in my heart and i love them enough to enjoy their parts in this book.
pd: you can’t have a sequel that has 60% of introduction, no one needed all of that to understand what was going on.

Not as enjoyable as the first book, but still good. I got annoyed a lot with Kiva during this book. This is a series where I would’ve been fine just having read the first one. I don’t think I’ll finish the series because the second one kinda ruined the rest of it for me.

I’m just going to pretend the story ended differently and just remember the first book because I loved it so much.

Aside from the miscommunication (he was clearly smitten, just tell the bloody boy), I loved this. I think I preferred this to book one, and I can't wait to see what happens next.
My heart breaks for Jaren and Tipp the most I think 😭
