Giddy for Glitch

I swear this book is just a feel good, hilarious, spicy, nerdy wonderland that I couldn’t put down! The banter is to die for, and the scenes are perfection!! Add a great plot twist in there, and this easily makes it into my top 10 list! Loved it!

I needed this.
Low drama, insta-but not (they've been pining for each other forever), no 3rd act breakup crap - just steamy, low angst falling in love with a nice little background plot to keep things moving.

I read a lot of dark shit and I love it but sometimes you want a breather and this was that.

Ara & Glitch
DNF because this book was so boring. Smut without character development or any plot bores me! And it was insta-lust and I didn’t feel the chemistry. Normally I like a dirty-talking MMC but this was dumb and over the top. I really wanted to like this book, but unfortunately, I need more plot, character development, and less cringe.

I read Glitch by Briana Michaels to fulfill a prompt for the Romanceopoly Challenge I’m participating in this year (2024). The prompt was to read a contemporary romance in which one of the main characters is a geek or a gamer, and Glitch had two video gamer main characters.

Sadly, this book wasn’t for me, and I should have DNF’d this book and picked up another book to read for the prompt. I don’t mind books that have a lot of spicy times between the characters, but I need more with the story other than them banging left and right and some cringy, dirty talk. Yes, I found myself skipping over parts of the book out of sheer boredom, and some scenes were repetitive and simply too cringeworthy to read. If I heard the MMC utter ‘Hey Kitty’ one more time, I was on the verge of losing my patience. Some readers may find ‘Hey Kitty,’ endearing, but for me, it’s a hard ‘No.’

I am glad that the two MCs, Glitch and Ara, who had been playing video games for a while, finally met because it was apparent they were into each other. Glitch did show Ara a good time and how she should have been treated because she had been dating douchebags the whole time. That’s the only good thing I got while reading this book, but I just couldn’t get over how he dirty-talked.

I don’t mind reading instant love/lust in romance books because, in real life, people can know right away if they have a connection with someone, but this book was over the top. Plus, the whole time the characters were going at it, Ara was dealing with an obsessive ex, but he was only mentioned a couple of times, and then when he dealt with it, it felt rushed and anti-climatic.

I really wanted to like this book, but unfortunately, I need more plot, character development, and less cringe. I’m not sure if I’m going to continue the series, but I may check out Briana Michaels’s other books.

Just because I didn’t like this book doesn’t mean other readers won’t enjoy it.
