@RachNTheLibrary: The Last Echo by Derting: Violet in trouble again but tougher than before, creepy killer, annoying Rafe, mystical team. Can't wait for #4!

Whoa, the creep factor is extra high in this third book of The Body Finder series. The Collector is very disturbing, and reading the chapters written in his voice are definitely chilling. This part of the story is intense, and really turns up at the end.

The beginning is interspersed with more Jay/Rafe/Violet as has been suggested in the previous books, which I could take or leave. I did think it was interesting to get some more on Rafe's backstory, as it shed more light on Violet's entire team and really set up for the final pages. I am curious to see where the next book takes this....

I enjoyed seeing Violet maturing, she's still not always making good choices but she's definitely trying. It was a really great, satisfying ending getting to finally watch her save herself instead of being saved. I loved the ominous note it ended on. This was a little grittier than the last two books in this series but it also has more dynamic tension and relationships, and I can't wait to see how the series wraps up in the last book. I'm not usually a fan of love triangles, but this one is subtle and done well, even if violet is in denial about reciprocating Rafe's feelings. My favorite in the series so far.

This book had less of the wonderful romance between Jay and Violet and more of Violet trying to figure out Rafe (and her feelings for him), the boy who is part of the team of "misfits" that have psychic abilities. This team of misfits help the FBI track down killers hopefully before they can kill again.

We got more of Violet with the team and experiencing the darker side of what she can do - how what she does can piss off those she helps to catch and what the repurcussions of that is.

The last half of the book had me biting my nails. There were a few things I thought unneeded and perhaps could have been toned down a bit, but overall, this is another winner in the series. The bad guy in this was reminiscent of Norman Bates which added an even creepier vibe to the book.

And it left us with a cliffhanger! So, now I have to wait until January to read the next installment....

4,5/5 - ta posledni cast byla skvela...

3.5 stars for The Last Echo. I wanted to give this 4 stars but I just couldn't do it- there wasn't enough Jay to rate 4 stars. (Yes, I am that shallow.) This one seemed creepier than the others and oh my goodness- that ending!! Gah!! What was that?!?!?

The ending to this was amazing. Violet getting kidnapped and then coerced into staying on the team by her shrink. I'm really looking forward to the next book now!

The book started off a bit slow. I wasn't very interested in all the police work and how little Violet seemed to be able to do. The little she was able to got her beaten and kidnapped so I'm not sure she should even be on the team! -.-

I'm still annoyed at how she needs to be independent and hates to trouble her friends and family. I understand it but I really don't like it.

I'm glad that she was able to understand her feelings enough to turn down Rafe. She and Jay are meant to be!

I was surprised to learn that Sara was Rafe's sister and that Gemma was staying with them! I was also saddened that Rafe got hurt! :(

We learned a lot about Rafe in this book. :-)
dark funny mysterious tense fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: Complicated
Flaws of characters a main focus: No

I'm looking back at this and thinking.. WHY CAN I NOT REMEMBER WHAT HAPPENED IN THIS BOOK? i loved the second one... oh wait everything's coming back... yeahh see the thing is.. Rafe shouldn't be here -.- .... I'm done. Peace Out Sloths!

Actual Rating: 3.5

This was a great read. This series reminds me of The Naturals series by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. I thought the story was interesting and action-packed. I found the lopsided love triangle a bit weird. Violet loves Jay, but Rafe and Jay both love Violet. I do not know how this is going to turn out. Also, I still liked Violet. I think her abilities are really cool. However, I wondered why Jay was not in the story more. I hope he is in the last book more as it is the finale. I wonder how this series is going to end. It has been a great ride so far. Overall, an enjoyable read.
