Exactly what I needed to hear (read as an audiobook), considering that I am finding myself falling into the perfectionism trap. I can see myself referring to this book on the regular to keep myself grounded.

Man, this book was so enlightening. Perfectionism is a shield? I did not see that coming. But it’s been so true for me. Once I realized why I strive for perfection, I was able to let it go. It’s truly been life changing. I highly recommend this book. I love her work.

I love listening to Brene read her own book. She has such a wonderful voice and care and interest just shines through so beautifully. And now I’m running out to buy a physical copy so that I can mark it all up and work through a bit slower.

Love a lot of the concepts and ideas, really strong takeaways. As a therapist who works with folks primarily around self-worth, this is definitely a book id reccomend to clients, as well as friends and loved ones. Moments where fatphobia creeps in to Brown's writing put a damper on a few chapters and overall Brown lacks a lot of nuance around ways identity & oppression & cultural norms impact the topics discussed (like worthliness, perfectionism, etc.).
