Honestly liked this a lot more than I thought I was going to
I’m not a huge reader of what people coin as “self-help” but like to try an occasional read on topics for self reflection or psychology. The book is short and has great topics on being enough and how to live with more awareness and acceptance of yourself. However I wish it would have dived deeper into more personal stories or more from research to be more relatable. It didn’t grab me in writing as much as she does in her Ted talks.

Rereading after I initially read it a decade ago - and it's still such a great book. Loved being able to reflect on how much I've taken the guideposts to heart since my initial read, and seeing where I can continue my internal work.
Second time reading this - I think it is one of those books that every time you read it you take away something new.
This is a solid addition to my growing library of books about personal growth. Brown has many important things that we need to hear to find joy in our lives. She clearly defines ambiguous words surrounding emotional health and spirituality and shares research about how people overcome shame and addiction and find deeper levels of happiness and calm in their lives.
