I eenjoyed this mystery quite a bit. The story had just enough twists to keep it interesting. Plus how can you go wrong when the reader is Benedict Cumberbatch? I'll be listening than other in this series I'm sure.

Introduction of the detective's love interest. Pretty boring because they are both boring.

Thought the writing was a little subpar on this audiobook. Just learned it was abridged. Shame on you Audible. Are we now so lazy we can’t even LISTEN to an entire book? Big raspberry to you.

The person that recommended this to me called it a "deliberately artistic novel" and I think I agree, the prose is beautiful and pretensious but in a good way? I kept reading some of the dialogue outloud to myself in my best English accent cause it needed it, y'know?

Anyway, I liked it, it was a fun little mystery.

Aww, this is where he meets Troy!

Golden-Age delicious fun. (But wow, the whole “B*** Fox” thing did not age well.)
