This book reads like fanfiction for pride and prejudice and not in a bad way. It feels like sitting down with Charlotte while she tells you about her life as though it’s a great secret she’s sharing.

There were aspects of the book that fell a bit flat and were admittedly unrealistic to the time, but it was a very pleasant read that I found difficult to put down for most of the book.

If you enjoy pride and prejudice, I’d recommend giving this book a chance. Be prepared for some sad turns, but the book on a whole is more hopeful and content than anything.

Elevated fanfiction continuing Pride and Prejudice, ultimately hopeful with ups and downs.  I did like how the novel touched more on life outside the landed gentry (e.g. seasonal movements of travellers, a little more interaction with the servants). Did not expect the sex scenes to be on the menu, so listen to the audiobook with caution in front of others!

Really enjoyed it, gave me every bit the feeling of when I first read pride and prejudice but in a more accessible language and with a much more relatable heroine. Never thought I would love mr Collins but now I do. Amazing

Although I really enjoyed reading this book it felt like it lacked depth.

Delightful and wonderful, I loved this tale and the story it told of dear Charlotte from Pride and Prejudice.
Loved the unexpected friendship that arose between Charlotte and one of her neighbours as well as the chance to catch up with other characters from Jane Austen's novel.
I recommend if you want to escape back in the world of Pride and Prejudice and find out how Charlotte's life was after her practical marriage to Mr Collins.

Now I always wanted to know how life turned out for Charlotte Collins (née Lucas) and while this is the ticket and a lot happens - it also somehow felt quite flat and almost bland. It took me a long time to finish and didn't really feel the pull to go back to pick it up after reading about twenty minutes.
