Wild is the Witch follows a young witch, Iris, living in today's society, where witches live among humans. They work with them and have a set of rules to keep things running smoothly.

When Iris accidentally places a curse on her annoying coworker, she has to find an owl that's holding the curse.. with her annoying coworker, Pike.

This is pretty classic enemies-to-lovers, and it was cute. However, I wanted more of the witch stuff and less of the romance, That's just my personal style, though. The writing was a little repetitive, but it wasn't awful. The descriptions of the natural world were certainly beautiful! I would recommend this to people who like romance.

4.5 stars! -- (Read in September) I loved that this book is about the PNW, witches, owls, and anxiety. This book felt so magical and I imagined myself in the woods of the PNW! I think the characters were really sweet and relatable and I LOVED the meddling owl

This was delightful I’m not gonna lie.

It’s a simple plot with few characters, two teens are forced on a small journey together to fix a reckless decision gone wrong. There’s nothing groundbreaking here and it’s a shorter book, but throw in modern magic, enemies to lovers (more like strong dislike to lovers), and LOTS of atmosphere, and you’ve got this wonderful book.

Because it’s a modern world where witches are known and accepted, there’s a little world building necessary. But this is a small and intimate story, so the author explains just enough to make us comfortable and give plot context and character motivation, all without going overboard. If anyone has any issues with this book, I wouldn’t be surprised if this were it. However, I think if she had tried to scale the world building any bigger, it wouldn’t have worked. That being said, I would love to hear more stories in this universe. What did Amy have to go through? What’s next for our two characters?

And the atmosphere was ATMOSPHERIC. A witchy wildlife refuge in the PNW? Hiking through the Olympic Peninsula? GIVE ME MORE. I would watch a whole TV show on the CW centered around this. All magic in this book is primarily tied to nature as well. Following Iris’ thoughts about magic, animals, and forests while she’s trying so desperately to fix a spell gone wrong was refreshing and engaging. Almost like the author was writing a love letter to the Wild through this story of magic.

It is beautiful and atmospheric. A must read if you love owls, forests, romance and witch stories.
