This is a short little novella about a Kieran, a trans guy, doing an internship with his frosty, but handsome and entirely-smitten-with-their-married-boss supervisor Seth. Cue office romance, and so much affirming, good, wholesome, wonderful interactions.
There were times when the main character Kieran did or said some questionable things, but nobody is perfect, and we wouldn’t get anywhere or be able to relate to a bland MC. Hot manager Seth on the other hand, you did great, 10/10, would not change a thing.
Would recommend, to anybody who’d like a short, #Ownvoices, positive LGBTQ+ read, but please be warned there’s an age difference, misgendering, and an 18+ scene (the positive, affirming kind, if there’s such a thing.)

I did really like how the author portrayed the MC's experience with being trans though. I could relate a lot to the MC in that way.

The book shined in many aspects, I especially liked how the MC's transness was handled, the emphasis on consent and the way the sex scene was written.
My main complaint is that the romance felt a bit underdeveloped but the book is very short so that's a given ig and for what it's worth it has a lot more development than other romance novellas I've read.

It has a massive fanfiction vibe, I can absolutely see this as a “political campaign au” fic for a lot of fandoms lol, so if that’s your vibe you’ll like this!
warning tho for age gap relationship - 23 and 35 (i think? about 12 years anyway)
The relationship was cute and this was just a nice fluffy palate cleanser of a read. I would have loved just a few more pages of relationship development/feelings talk as it did sort of feel like they both were suddenly in love with no warning though.

My personal comparison for this is: It has a similar vibe to Boyfriend Material, but doesn't have the problems I had with that book. For example, secondary characters can't seem flat, because this only has like 88 pages, so there isn't much room for anyone but Kieran and Seth anyway. There are other people in this, yeah, but they are not focused on at all and that is fine, because you can't expect that from this book. There isn't that much time to go into a loooot of detail with our main couple either since everything moves very fast, but in my opinion they were both still layered characters with a lot of chemistry. I loved them so much! (Especially Seth, because he just seems so sweet through Kierans's eyes. But Kieran himself is great as well.)
If you tend to have a hard time with stories this short, this might not be for you - but if you don't mind a fast pace and can accept that there are a few things that probably would've been included if this had been a 300 page book and are not "missing", read it. It has so much going for it!
