This book was a journey, truly. The first chapter in itself was already a huge plot reveal, and its the eventual answers to the 'whydunnit' that really made this read intriguing to read. The characters, the motivations, the concepts were all unique and dove into the complexities of humanity. I also really like the concept of 'Motherhood' being explored as a main motivation for two of the central characters.
Also, it's insane that Minato wrote this book in between chores! Truly a creative mind!

An entertaining beach-read thriller with great pacing, nice use of multiple narrators, sensational reveals, murders, etc. One would think by this novel that there are at least three or four latent murderers per class of middle-schoolers. If you don't ask for accuracy there or plot believability, you'll be fine. Nothing too straining of the intellect or the soul. Ogawa this is not. No surprise that it was made into a movie.
