Alison recommended this book and I really liked it! So interesting and twisted

I didn't like the writing style and often got bored in the middle of paragraphs full of random side-story explanation. BUT some of these twists and long-game revenge plot plans were WILD. The ending was a complete shock. I also liked most of the "unlikable" characters, they made for such great narrators. And one of my favorite tropes is seeing the same event from different perspectives and POVs. Overall, a pretty good book.

A blurb on the cover said something like “ If Albert Camus wrote Heathers” which was very apt!

I liked this book, but by the time I reached halfway through it, it became noticeably repetitive and slowed me down a bit. Despite that, I still found it engaging. It's one of the most messed-up stories I've read, revolving around the familiar theme of revenge. It has a really nice buildup at the beginning when it comes to tension. The narrative centers around a vengeful teacher seeking retribution after her daughter is murdered by two of her students, and from there, it unfolds into a twisted and dark story of crimes committed and murders plotted. It's intentionally written from the perspectives of multiple characters involved, which I found interesting because we get to see each character's emotions and their different passionate motives. Japanese thrillers, let me tell you, they are something else. They are conceptually unique, bizarre, and disturbing. One of the things I found twisted is how it discusses and later uses its infection as a weapon. Imagine the mental torture it caused to the suspects. No one is innocent in this book - it explores dysfunctional human relations and is 80% compelling.
