Honestly, this is the first book I've read in years. I used to love reading, love might even be an understatement, because back then I basically lived for books.
I'm so glad I chose this as my way back in. This had me in a chokehold from start to finish. I won't dive into the plot or characters, they're already brilliant on their own. But what I want to highlight is the experience of reading it. Every page pulled me deeper, and it reminded me why I fell in love with fiction in the first place.

Yooooooo this was crazy. From the insane speech from Moriguchi to her class exposing her daughter’s killers to the twisted inner workings and justifications of the killers, nuts.
The dynamic of Naoki and Shūya at first had reminded me of Columbine’s Klebold and Harris, more so the sick defensiveness of Klebold/Naoki. Naoki saw himself as the “victim” of Shūya but in reality, they were both deeply messed up and responsible for a murder they both took satisfaction out of. The ending was shocking.
