- Morgan Greenwood a potions witch is out at local small town New England bar, in her hometown, when she offers to fake date the woman of her dreams Rory Sandler. Rory is a previous spell-casting champion now bartender who is famously known for her manipulation of the elements; and she makes a really good drink. Morgan is really needed as the fake girlfriend during the New England Witches’ festival where Rory will be getting a lot of pressure from her family to compete again. As the festival starts running Morgan offers Rory a sleep potion to help with the stress that turns sour. Just as things are spicing up Morgan is faced with a major moral decision and her relationship with Rory hangs in the balance. Will she let her self-doubt ruin her chances with Rory or will she finally listen to her heart?
- This book has a little bit of small town New England vibes and it is a queer witchy romance. I did enjoy the fake dating trope and I liked the relationship but there was a little bit of a miscommunication trope mixed in that I didn’t like. I do think both these characters and morally polarizing which I think reflects actual people but I wasn’t happy with choices they made. It was a fun read!

Was a nice read, i really enjoyed the witch community. Was anxiety inducing in a few spots which made me take longer to read lol just wish they hadn't fallen in love in like a week.

I should have loved this but instead I was frustrated over and over by the main character’s lack of self confidence that went so deep she truly convinced herself that she was capable of making an illegal potion and then refused to tell her fake girlfriend about it.

An incredibly cute, queer, witchy rom-com with only marginal threat to life and limb thrown in for good measure. The beautifully created characters aligned with the realistic and hopelessly romantic dialogue just makes this come alive and live in your brain as you read. Full of the tropes that we love in romantic novels (there was only one bed, shameless flirting 'is it flirting', they have to get along to accomplish something etc) it's just an autumn hug in book form.

I really liked this! Rory and Morgan are so cute together, and I love the magical world they live in. I really appreciated the explanations and nuace of how magic works in their world. I'm usually left wondering about that stuff in books.
The internal struggles of Morgan really resonated with me as well. Rory's too. I've never been able to see myself the way people who love me do, and self-sabotage is one of my most well honed skills. If there's hope for Morgan, maybe there's hope for me.
