I'm a fan of Wharton's writing, but I'm just tired of reading about infidelity and love/hate triangles. I also prefer heroic characters at the moment, and there was no one to root for in this one besides the cat...or maybe the fateful jar of pickles.

I loved it. Captures the desolate New England winter as well as the desolation of the characters’ lives. Wonderfully descriptive despite the straightforward narrative style. Highly recommend (although it is not exactly sunshine and rainbow, this one).
