Logically, I know that contemporary romance isn't a genre I care about much but I'm here for completionist reasons.

I don't think I'll be reading I Was Born For This because it feels like it's written for a bandom audience? And I have a veeery complicated history with bandom. Plus, it's not really relevant to the Heartstopper cast.
The only other Oseman book I have left is Radio Silence, which is actually of interest to me because podcast fandom is something I have a way better relationship with than bandom. And an a-spec main character is also nice to have.

the book itself is a 3.25 ⭐️ but honestly the audiobook is a 10/10, i needed to get it out there first.

maybe i am heartless and cold and bitter and old.
but charlie’s meltdown was absolutely insufferable to me.
i love them, i really do, but this was a little /too/ high school relationship for me. maybe im past the age for the target demographic at this point :( (still jealous of their love tho)

I wanted to read this book as I was missing the Heartstopper Universe. I wanted more. So I thought I would read one of the Novella’s about Nick and Charlie. This book is so cute, yet hurt my heart.

Everyone knows that Nick and Charlie are the perfect couple, they are inseparable. But now Nick is leaving for University and Charlie will be left behind at Sixth Form. Everyone ‘s asking if they are staying together, which is a stupid question – they’re Nick and Charlie. But as the time to say goodbye gets inevitably closer, both Nick and Charlie question whether their love is strong enough to survive being apart. Or are they delaying the inevitable? Because everyone knows that first loves rarely last forever. This book is a young adult LGBT contemporary romance.

I loved this book, and it made me sad at the same time. I loved the dual POV from Nick and Charlie. I also loved seeing the little side of the graphic novel during this novella, it sort of reminds you on the Heartstopper graphics and that they are sort of in the same world with the same characters just more of a book than graphic novel. I love Nick and Charlie and they were both scared, full of anxiety idiots, but we love them for it. I could read about these characters forever. This book is very helpful for high school relationships if they are going to separate universities or colleges.

I wouldn’t say I have anything negative to say about it, but I wanted it longer, this book could have been 500 pages long and I still would have wanted more. I also missed the background characters that we came to love in Solitaire and Heartstopper like Elle and Tao, Darcy and Tara, Mr Ajayi. I would have just love what their opinions were and maybe there be an intervention for both Nick and Charlie. I cannot wait to read more of Alice Oseman’s work.
