the protagonist is a sociopath, but aside from that it's okay i guess
back in the day it was much more impactful, but honestly the (first) movie is better, because we got devon bostick as the perfect rodrick

This simple book shares the seemingly true tales of a kid trying to survive middle school. While the plot doesn't delve into the character's innermost feelings, it does provide a wonderful point for classroom discussion.

Reading Diary of a Wimpy Kid as an adult is a fun, if slightly frustrating, experience. Jeff Kinney captures middle school life with humor and charm, and the illustrated format keeps things engaging. That said, Greg Heffley’s antics can feel more selfish than funny at times, and the story is more a series of amusing moments than a fully developed narrative. Still, it’s an easy, nostalgic read that delivers a few laughs—perfect if you don’t take it too seriously!
