This was a re-read for me so I could get back in the world and characters before starting Honey (BOOK 2).

Definitely read the content warnings before reading and be prepared for spice and longing and wondering “am I into this?”

This story would have rated higher for me had there not been so much descriptive text that made my eyes glaze over. I enjoyed the actual storyline but all the descriptions and world-building took away from the story and didn't really help me grasp more about the world or story, in my opinion. There would be paragraphs and paragraphs of descriptions that took away from the main storyline and I was left wanting to know what would happen next and to skip all the filler text. The only other critique I have is that the use of a different language left me wondering what those words meant and by the end not learning what those words even meant in most cases. I'm not sure if I will continue with this series or not.

I really appreciated this book. The MMC was a dark sexy hot vibe. And the FMC was actually tolerable which I liked. It had the “who touched you” trope and who doesn’t love that ??

Really enjoyed this book. Is it my favorite fantasy romance? No, but it was still entertaining and enjoyable. It did take me a minute to figure out all of the characters and terms used, but it all came together. There were a couple of chapters that I feel didn’t need to be in the book (the one’s that had other characters pov’s). I just didn’t see a purpose for them. Aheia did get a little annoying at times, because she came off as being so needy, so I’m hoping she grows a pair for the second book, because I would love for her to become a kick ass heroine. I will definitely continue with this series to see how the author brings it all together. All in all, a good debut novel!

I would have given it a 3.5

It took me a while to get into it but after about halfway, when you finally start getting the terms and the world, it gets better. :) I really did like the storyline though

I've been wanting to read this book for a while now, so finding it on kindle unlimited seemed like a big win. But when nearly every sentence (no, not an exaggeration) contains 'as', I simply can't do it. Maybe I'll come back and try again at some point. Or find it as an audiobook, where I can maybe ignore it more. At the moment, however, I'm simply too annoyed.
