Well written and engaging. The chapters were mostly super quick, most of them only one page and taking only a minute to read, which made it easy pretty easy to fly through.

The subject matter was really sad, as was Jennette's relationship with her mother. Right from the first couple of pages it's obvious her mother is an abusive narcissist. It's a relationship absolutely no one deserves to have.

The perception of actors is a life of glamour, but Jennette's story is anything but glamorous and I feel for her and her experiences.

In a constant state of wanting to please her mother, at the detriment of herself was really sad to read about. Her mother's abuse, and control was awful! What mother showers her child into their teenage years and conducts physical exams?

I've never read in so much detail about narcissism and it was very eye-opening.

Painful and real. Elements of the childhood hit me very hard. I'm glad Jennette wrote this book.

I'm glad that the author was able to tell her story and channel her emotions and trauma into something that seems like it was healing. I wasn't always a fan of the presentation/voice used throughout, but with respect to this being such a personal story I overall want to keep my review positive. It was quick moving, and the stories were engaging and often funny in spite of their sadness.

I was hoping she'd choose to quit acting -- I'm so glad that Jennette is pursuing things that serve her better and don't contribute to her mother's harmful legacy of abuse. This was an amazing and horrifying read

I think the most challenging thing about reading this was having watched her while I was growing up and all of us had no idea that this was happening in her life. This was really difficult to read, but in a good way. I am just really happy that she was able to Process and share her trauma.

Stark contrast to the character we have grown up watching but informative of the depth of a person and a reminder that celebrities are people too. A series of short stories, this memoir was interesting especially following the release of the latest child star documentary.
