A very interesting look at the way jennette mccurdy was raised and how it contributed to her mental health and self esteem issues. The world and even jennette herself would have never guessed the abuse her mother put her through and where she would ultimately end up.

It is hard for me to give this book anything other than five stars for two reasons: 1) it is someone telling their own story, and 2) it is someone telling that story *excellently*.

Jennette McCurdy is a born writer. She writes in a way that is raw, personable, and to the point with just a splash of dry humor and a hefty amount of powerful truths. McCurdy's voice is distinguished and unique in her writing.

McCurdy tells her story with devastating honesty. She shares events that I don't think I would ever feel comfortable speaking out loud to another human being, much less open about them up to the whole world to read or hear. But that devastating honesty is what made this book a hard-hitter - made it feel more real, less polished, and in my opinion, intensely significant.

She did not have to write this, but the world is better for it. I would recommend to anyone to read this book. It is a microcosm of the horrible, beautiful reality of being a modern human being and the capacity for healing and assuming responsibility over our own lives in the face of tragedies that happen to us.

I cannot wait to see what other kind of books McCurdy goes on to write.

Simply written.
(A lot of humor probably got lost in German translation. But I can't reinforce the judgement of being humerous and making lemonade with this book.)

It is honestly just very sad. It makes you angry at CPS, at the whole family, at the film industry. The first 1/3 of the book made me sick. I still finished it in 4 days.
