Again, this series continues to be utterly delightful. This volume was more soft and sweet after the darker nature of the previous two volumes. We are introduced to Lord Beldaruit, who is quirky and flamboyant and challenges the four apprentices to surprise him with magic. I ended up really liking Beldaruit quite a bit, and will admit I'm really interested to see the way magic is used to replace a wheelchair, as he appears to be "wheelchair" bound. The chair he uses has what seems to be goat legs and it is both magical and disturbing and I find it really interesting. It's also nice to see a disabled character in fantasy who is one of the Three Wise Ones. Overall, a fun, cute volume, but I can't wait for the next volume to finally learn more about Qifrey and his past.
