I think was the weakest book in the series so far. It wasn't bad, but it felt a lot like a filler-episode rather than anything else. Sure, there were some things in it that was main story related, but they were really small things, and most of it was just about character-growth and friendship and teamwork. Not bad, but not what I want from this series right now. Unfortunatly, I've reached a stage where I feel like there's more questions than answers, and it's starting to annoy me.

Art is still beautiful, though! And the world building interesting and good.

Another delightful volume. This one takes our four apprentices to the underwater Great Hall, where Beldaruit of the Three Wise ones waits to hear their testimony about the proceeding events. He ultimately decides to give all four apprentices a chance to earn the accolades of the second test f they can surprise him in three days. Over the next couple of days, the apprentices learn more about magic and uncover hints about Qifrey's past. This volume sets up the next one, which I cannot wait to read and fully explore the relationship between Beldaruit and Qifrey, who is still recovering from the attack.
