There is so much lore and backstory and worldbuilding that the actual story gets super lost in the sauce of it all. I liked it, it was fun and interesting and the characters are fascinating but it felt like there was a much better story happening in the past/background of everything and I kind of wish that was what we got instead.

Wonderful exploration of trauma through a magical lens. Yes there's political intregue and mystery but the charm (pun) of this book lies with its healing journey of self.
