Fans of Romantasy will like this one. Main character is made out to be a tough, independent young woman, but ends up being the damsel in need of rescuing more often than not. Cycles quickly between high stakes situations that seem to pop up out of nowhere and quick solutions to those situations just a couple pages later.

The Rebel Witch wraps up The Crimson Moth duology with high emotional stakes, magical rebellion, and a romance steeped in tension and grief. I loved book one -it kept me up all night-and while this sequel didn't quite hit the same intensity, it still delivered a satisfying conclusion.

The dynamic between the main characters remains compelling, with tension that continues to build throughout. The author handles grief and emotional fallout with care, and the ending felt well-earned. I also enjoyed the expanded witch mythology.

However, the middle of the book felt repetitive at times. The back-and-forth emotional conflict- especially the "I hate him/I love him" cycle-dragged on longer than necessary, and both main characters seemed stuck in denial even though their true feelings were obvious. I also wished for more variety in perspective to make other characters motivations seem more genuine and perhaps a deeper exploration of the world's magic and politics.

Still, it's a strong finish to the duology, and I'd recommend it to readers who enjoy romantic tension, rebellion, and morally complex characters.
