This is truly the best retelling of Medusa. Wait I can do that better… This novella is so heart wrenching, it makes you want to hug Medusa while looking into her eyes. It was so powerful, and beautifully written because it was more than her story too. It explores isolation, grief, loneliness, and the power to hold yourself back to such extreme lengths. It made me feel such a type of way that I want to talk to everyone I know about it.

One thing I especially loved was the way Hayward handled the delicacy of Medusa’s trauma. She never names the man who robbed Medusa of herself, and eventually into this curse.

Hm… I don’t really know what to make of this. It had a lot of prose, which made it somewhat hard to digest, particularly, since I am only vaguely familiar with the legend of Medusa. I think it would’ve been more interesting to show a progression from innocence to raging vengeance, and then to show her open her heart to Perseus only to be destroyed. What I’m saying is… It was kind of boring.

The writing style is beautiful, I guess I'm just not in the right headspace to concentrate on this right now

Beautiful, Sad Story

Beautifully written story about Medusa from her perspective. If you're a fan of myth and mythos, check this one out. It's a quick, easy read.
