Enjoyable, slightly predictable but that’s okay. Sometimes I enjoy an easy read. I’m going to read all the books associated with it (there are several), so yeah, it’s good enough to keep reading.

This book gave me the chills!
I still have some questions to the story and why did it have to end like that!?

I'll admit that I'm a massive fan of Iain's work, but this book really stood out for me, the way the character of Sam is written and the way the story evolved had me in goosebumps and really scared at times!
Such a unique and well written novel among the tons of similar offerings around at the moment. Bloody fantastic writing.

The first 3/4 of this book I really enjoyed, it indulged in every cheesy horror trope but it felt like watching a Scream film. Cheesy horror fun. The last 1/4 of this book really lets it down, he tries to gun for sequels and expand the plot into its own universe.

However there isn't enough time to develop these themes so if feels very brute forced in. Twists for the sake of twists. Perhaps if these themes were explored more deeply in the earlier chapters it would have sold it, but for me, it really brought down what was essentially an exorcist type flick in book format.

Tbh I got this for a quick read and not expecting to find a book I could quite happily read over again.

But this is a gem, so glad I gave it a chance. One to add to my read again shelf
