I listened to the audiobook, and I recommend that over reading it. There were some extras in the audiobook version. I enjoyed listening to this memoir, it was entertaining. I rarely rate memoirs greater than 3 stars, I liked this one, but it didn't blow me away.

Stayed up til after midnight reading this. The book was written in a fun, light-hearted and witty manner, that it was easy for me to flip through the pages. It was unputdownable and with every page I was able to glimpse into Tan France's life pre- and post- Queer Eye. Some experiences were tough, some were happy. Tan touched on several issues, such as race and sexuality, how the color of his skin affected how he was treated as he grew up in the UK, how he knew from a young age that he was gay. The story of how he met his husband was also told in this book, and I think it's a sweet one bound to make your heart flutter! How he got into fashion, and of course Queer Eye, were also shared in this heartwarming (and relatable!) story.

I knew this book was going to be good, but it turns out to be much better. I would highly recommend it!

I enjoyed this a ton, but I also think it’s because I love Tan on queer eye. I picked it up because I was truly interested in learning how he grew into that role and that personality.

I have only one complaint about it in that I felt like he came off as a tad conceited in three or four places and there was one chapter in which he disses married couples who sometimes say they need a weekend alone to themselves because “if they need a getaway weekend from their partner then what the f*ck is going on their marriage?” This was so condescending it made me cringe. I didn’t think he had the right to comment on how happily married couples choose to live their lives. People live and love in different ways and being attached to your partner 24x7 is only tolerable for a select few.

Good, light read overall.

3.5/5, rounding up.
Tan is my favorite of the Fab 5 of Netflix's Queer Eye reboot, not just for South Asian rep but also for encouraging people to show respect for themselves and their loved ones through looking and feeling good, not just chasing trends. Turns out he's also a very sweet British boy, and very conscious about how his actions represent not just himself but also queer and brown communities on screen.

It's also interesting seeing how he was cast for Queer Eye (or the process in general, really) and that his decision to go was really about making other gay friends because SLC is ah, not a very big scene.

The free little library near my place honestly keeps providing! Found this there and picked it up on a whim since I love Queer Eye. I was surprised how much I liked it, not because I don't love Tan but because I usually feel indifferent about biographies. I don't know what it was but I really liked the writing style and I liked all the stories he talked about! Honestly, the stories of him and his husband were my favourite because you can just feel the love and respect they have for each other.

Overall, if you're looking for a lighthearted biography, like fashion and love Queer Eye then this is the book for you!
