It's Harry Potter but not Harry Potter and I loved it. Penny is delightful, Watford is interesting in its own right, and I'm obsessed with how magic works in this world.
I'm not a huge enemies-to-lovers fan, but Rowell kept me turning the pages and rooting for Simon and Baz the whole way through.

If you've ever wanted an escapist, human, lovable, queer Harry Potter, go pick up Carry On right now. The book centers around the 'Chosen One', Simon Snow, who attends a Hogwarts-style magical boarding school. He and his friends learn more about how their world works, make mistakes, fall in love, eat scones and unravel mysteries. I cannot stress how good this book is.

i liked this much better the second time around. it was a little strange to read something with an actual plot again lmao.
my opinions pretty much stayed the same, i didn’t dislike agatha as much as i remembered, she was actually quite relatable, she didn’t want to be a side character in everyone’s story anymore and i can’t blame her for that.
Simon and Baz are still the ultimate ya couple and i love them for it.

Okay so I loved this book but also I loved it like a Harry Potter Fanfiction. It was incredibly fun to read but I kept picturing Hogwarts, just a bit different. Nevertheless I will definitely reread it because this was super comforting!

This book was a surprise! I wasn't sure what to expect, but it'sbeen on my radar for years and I decided to finally give it a chance. I loved the characters, the plot was intriguing, the twists were fun and made me audibly gasp in some places. Who doesn't love a good Chosen One story, and this is no different. Now I need to pick up the second book immediately!
