More like 2.5 stars. Took me a while to get through this book because of school starting up but it was cute enough. This is my second book by this author and she doesn’t do a ton for me, but her twist endings are usually worth it

So overall I did like the book and since I know there's always a Twist it wasn't so surprising to be in the
past rather than just magical realism
. I kind of wish it hadn't gone
as far as sex with Adam if she was going to get back together with Eric. Just felt icky to me.a kiss maybe you can get over but full sex is a lot of decisions leading up to it.
ironically I read the book while having left my 6 months old and 5 year old which made for a fun sense of irony for a mother/daughter story with the reveal

Mamma Mia 2 meets 17 again. Unrelated, but also sort of related - this book is seriously fueling the urge to change my foreign language to Italian. Should I do it?

Anyways, One Italian Summer is very atmospheric and I really loved the scenery it provided. It is the perfect summer read and I have really been digging some beach reads lately. However, I felt like it was a touch underdeveloped and I felt like I was supposed to care for these characters that I didn't really have a connection to.

I felt like the story was very mid. I also had a really hard time suspending my disbelief in terms of the story. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to be reading this as a literary interpretation or if I was supposed to think Katie had gone crazy. Still am not totally sure, but man those hotel workers deserve a raise if they were dealing with a woman who thought she could see the ghost of her dead mother from 30 years ago.

Anyways overall I feel like this is just an okay book. Fun and an enjoyable read, but nothing to write home about.

I don’t know what it is about this book, but I absolutely love it. I’m transported to Italy and I can feel the warm ocean breeze hug me while I sit on the terazzo and sip wine.

I was so surprised when I realized THE Lauren Graham is the narrator. To me, she doesn’t sound like Lorelai, but like Katy. She IS Katy.

I think I could read this book a thousand times and still not be bored.

Originally I was so excited to read this but overall the storyline did not live up to my expectations.

I wouldn’t recommend…

About love, loss, and grief. The setting was stunning, I really felt as if I were there. I didn't want to put it down. It delves into familial love in a way I've never seen before and it was quite touching. Just the read I needed right now.

Book review ⭐️⭐️⭐️

ABOUT THE BOOK
Thank you NetGalley for this early copy of One Italian Summer! This book is about Katy who just lost her mom and is struggling to get her life back on track after that. They were supposed to go to Italy together; her mum once went there and always talked about it. Katy decides to make the trip on her own. When she gets there she strangely meets her mum at an early age and gets to know the life of her mum before she was born, or so she thinks….

MY THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BOOK

The story itself is very original and I loved to read about Italy (the writer has done thorough research about the area). I did find the main character rather annoying, she judges choices her mum has made in her life while she herself runs away from her husband and has a fling with someone she meets in Italy. Double standards! She is also rather obsessed with her mum and can’t make decisions without her. I did love the way Rebecca has described how you struggle after the loss of someone, that part is superb.
I wasn’t fond of the writing style, it’s told in a rather staccato way, many short sentences and you don’t get to know the characters that well. The end of the book was well written with a nice twist to the story! This is a great read when you are on holiday or longing for summer.
