Bottom line: if you loved the movie and were entranced by the gorgeous art style, this book will not disappoint. I certainly don't regret buying it or reading it, since Song of the Sea is one of my favorite movies ever. This artbook includes tons of images where you can see the original designs versus what we eventually saw on screen. The last part has a large amount of sequences showing how the shots were composited, and I LOVE seeing those puzzle pieces come together.

Yet as far as art books go, this one leaves something to wish for in terms of designing and embellishing the book go be an artwork all on its own; and it also needed a bit more editing to polish up the written bits.

In other words, they are very much packing this book with images and some text, with very little graphic design to give the book an identity that matches the movie. Little touches like adding colored endpapers (if a patterned endpaper was too expensive for the budget) are what make artbooks really beautiful to hold and experience.

There's also a few typos in the text that were easy fixes and I'm surprised nobody caught them before publication. Some of them were repeats, like "villian". Also some of the text is in italics and some of it isn't? All I'm saying is this book would have benefitted greatly from some personalized graphic design.
