This story wasn’t so much a romance as it was a woman finding her way on a strange planet. I found myself enamored with the world, Planet Zero. Addie was such a balanced character who showed compassion and bravery while also being fragile and realistically only capable of so much. I was, however, thrown off by the modern English colloquialisms used by primitive aliens. This was actually really annoying and would take me out of the story every time one of the tribes-people spoke like they were in a contemporary novel. Other than that I enjoyed the pacing of the story and the gritty representation of humanity alone (but not really) navigating an alien planet with alien customs.
Graphic: Miscarriage
Moderate: Rape and Suicide

This is was an unrelentingly bleak story full of mostly unlikable characters, almost nothing that could be described as actual romance (plus very limited interactions between the FL and ML during the entirety of the story), and an ending that could barely even qualify as HFN due to how abrupt and open-ended it was.
I really enjoyed this author’s first book, but I honestly regret ever picking this one up.
