A 12 yr old boy assaults a girl with a knife and kisses her and it is weirdly made into her fault. The boy at 12 is made to seem more mature than an older teenage girl. Very weird. I did find the survival of two different families very interesting, but the assault was so disturbing it makes me worried about what must have happened to the author in real life.
