A collaborative from two super-talented romcom authors? Yes, please!

HIGHLIGHTS:
Small beachside town · Swoony Romance · Bumbling, brilliant heroine · Grumpy lawyer with a tender side · A pelican who lives on a porch · Age gap trope · Nosy neighbors and townspeople

This story couldn’t have been more fun to read! I devoured it. I was hooked from the first few moments between Eloise and Jake. I laughed out loud, found the characters to be incredibly relatable and enjoyed the small town vibes. The story line was creative and kept me thoroughly engaged. The push/pull between the characters was perfect and created just the right amount of angst. This is a definite recommendation from me and I can’t wait for more from these two authors, together!

A cute and very entertaining romcom. I laughed and giggled my way through the story and was charmed by the characters and the Oakley Island setting. This series promises to be fun!

I loved this book so much that it’s my favorite read of August and super close to being my favorite of the year. I loved Jake and Lo’s relationship. I love Naomi and Liam with all my heart. Lo is just such an amazing main character. I love literally everything about her. I am so happy that I moved this book higher up in my TBR because this is a book I wish I could read again for the first time. There were parts that actually made me laugh out loud and parts were I was sobbing tears of joy or tears of heartbreak for the characters. It really is the best feeling when an author can make the reader feel exactly what the characters feel and these authors did phenomenal with this book. I highly highly recommend this book.
Ps. I hate Margo and if you read it (which you should) you’ll know why.

This was cute. It had some funny and sweet moments between Jake and Eloise. I loved how the entire small town meddled in their relationship. Jake was adorable although I honestly think his reactions to Eloise were more normal and appropriate than “grumpy.” She was a bit of a hot mess. Taking things seriously / weighing consequences and being grumpy aren’t the same thing.

I think I would have enjoyed it more if Eloise wasn’t such a spazz. A sweet spazz, but still a spazz. She’s an influencer, but she doesn’t know how to work Instagram? Her ENTIRE bathing suit comes off while swimming in the ocean at the same time? She’s always tripping or falling into Jake? How does pounding on a door that opens quickly cause you to pitch forward and fall into someone? Some parts were too silly… they passed “funny” and went straight to “ridiculous.”

Many if not most of her thoughts and actions were childish, which only reminded me how young she actually was. Age gaps don’t usually bother me, but Eloise’s immaturity made the gap way too apparent and it became a bit cringy honestly.

Jake gets 4 stars, Eloise gets 2 so I’ll settle on 3 because there were some great moments throughout, but also a lot of misses IMO. ;)

Laugh out loud funny! I heartily enjoyed this ebook (AND the audiobook). It's definitely a feel good, romantic comedy. I wish I could follow Lo's IG in real life. I cannot wait to visit Oakley Island again!
