There are some good ideas and characters here, but some bad ones too.
In the end, as I was beginning to suspect,
Boring in too many places, predictable in others, this book is like a fire that won't quite catch, or a musical jam session that just didn't click.
Perhaps what we have here is a book that's about 30% too long, stretched to standard length. Might have been a great novella.
There's plenty of potential here, and I have to decide whether another one in this series will be better. Luckily, Goodreads will be able to tell me.
