For me, this book was a trip back in time. I first read it as a child and miraculously the story remained in my brain since then because I fell in love with it.

But as I read it again as an adult, I found the story lacking and the magic system with the gift really underdeveloped. The world building was also rather vague.

Nevertheless, I surprisingly didn’t hate it, and it was really nice to revisit the characters, but I’m not quite sure if I’ll continue the series later in the year.

~2.5 Stars + 0.5 stars for loving it as a kid

4.5 ⭐ I loved this book! I stayed up all night just to finish this in one sitting. The author did an amazing job at world build and flushing out real personalities for all the characters.
