I have a confession. Tik Tok made me buy this book. Everyone was hyping it up and saying how they cannot wait for the movie on Netflix to be released. I wanted to know what the hype was all about so I caved. And now I can totally see why this book has much hype!
I fell in love with it right away! America was so annoying. And I HATED Aspen the second he was introduced. But Maxon is *chef's kiss*. I love him.
This was such a fun read!

This was such a fun read!
"I suddenly knew, just as Maxon had said his mother had done, that I would contact these girls down the road. I would want to know who everyone married and send them Christmas cards. And in twenty-some-odd years, if Maxon had a son, I'd call to ask them about their favourite girls in the new Selection. And we'd remember everything we'd gone through and laugh about it as if it had been an adventure, not a competition."
Another reread of a book I loved as a teenager. This time, however, instead of losing a star, this has gained one. I just adore this book. It feels like home. I first read it when I was 15 and I finished rereading it (for maybe the 5th or 6th time) on my 21st birthday, and I think I might even love it more now than I did back then. I don't know that another book will ever replace it as my comfort book. I just love it.
America Singer. My beloved. She gets a lot of hate for some of the stupid decisions she makes but I just adore her. She has such a big heart. Honestly, she's one of my favourite fictional characters ever.
Maxon Schreave. Such a darling. He's just precious. Enough said.
Marlee Tames. Unproblematic fave. I just love, like, everyone in this book. (Not true at all, but the ones I love I love.)
So, if you couldn't tell, I just love this book. I love every book in the trilogy but I think this one has got to be my favourite because of how enchanting and exciting the beginning of the journey is. I am definitely going to be rereading the next two and the companion novella too, because I just can't help myself. It's been something close to three years since I last reread these books and I think it's about time I reminded myself of how much I love them.

Given that I don't like teen dystopia, first person PoV 90% of the time or love triangles...there is no logical reason for me to have enjoyed this as much as I did. But...yeah. I really had quite a bit of fun with this book. (As is evident at my having read it in less than 24 hours)
They didn't really have "ooo love triangle" for most the book, which made it better, and I greatly enjoyed the cast of characters. And it was a GIRLY book! And that was unspeakably refreshing. It made me feel all giddy and happy inside.
Not sure yet if I'll continue on to book two or not though...because again...love triangles. We shall see...

Kiera Cass' 'The Selection' is an amazing mix of urban fantasy and a dystopian society.
Once you start reading, you're going to want to see it through the end.
