Thank you to @authorhkgreen, and for the gifted e-book.

The story follows Ellie, who lost her father in a rodeo accident when she was young. Despite distancing herself from rodeos and love, she meets Colter, a roper who has also sworn off love after the end of his engagement. As their paths cross, sparks fly and they both embark on a journey of trust and rediscovering love.

I found Ellie and Colterโ€™s story truly engaging, and I'm a big fan of cowboy romances. The evolution of their relationship and the trust they built was truly heartfelt. The author did a remarkable job of depicting the intricacies of rodeo and roping, and I especially enjoyed the engaging banter and cute pet names shared between the characters. This raw and honest story of loss, trust, and learning to live again is one that I wholeheartedly recommend to fans of cowboy romances.

I was really craving a heartfelt small town cowboy romance and H.K. Green gave me exactly what I wanted. This book was so sweet and endearing. I really had such a wonderful time reading it.

Colter is the picture perfect sweet cowboy who will make you giggle and kick your feet. Watching him break down Ellison's walls was so heartwarming and enjoyable. You can't help but become fully encapsulated by him.

Ellison is such a relatable character. She struggles through a loss but still helps Colter with his. They both hold each other up and make each other better and I fell in love with them so quickly.

Their chemistry was on point and even though this is a slow burn, H.K. delivered quite the spice! This was a great debut novel and I can't wait to see where her stories go from here!

HK said that this was a book about the rodeo with some romance and that bell rang true! I absolutely loved getting to learn about the events and lingo of the rodeo, as a city girl myself ๐Ÿ˜‚ it even has a โ€œRodeo 101โ€ glossary at the beginning which is amazing!! But it was also balanced with the perfect amount of romance. Not easily done in my opinion!

Colter & Ellisonโ€™s love story was so beautiful. They both had trauma that affected them so deeply and it made their relationship so much stronger in the end! This wasnโ€™t a book where one person โ€œfixesโ€ the other like so many books. This was a โ€œbecause youโ€™ve shown me that happiness is possible, Iโ€™m ready to start reaching for it againโ€ and I really loved it ๐Ÿฅน the nightmare scene?? so raw and vulnerable. My bby Colter ๐Ÿ’”

I could see this being a cowboy romance staple for a lot of people!!!

A great debut novel from H.K.! I seriously could not get enough of this book. It was fast paced, and kept my interest the entire way through. I flew through it, and want more of Colter & Ellison.

Colter is your sweet and charming cowboy. He is kind, considerate, and funny. Ellison is a bit more closed off, but can hold her own and isn't afraid to let people know what's on her mind. They both just gravitated toward one another and their connection was undeniable.

This story weaves emotional, funny, and spicy moments together perfectly. My heart would be hurting one moment then I would be giggling the next and fanning myself the following moment.

The epilogue. My heart. The happy tears hit and they hit hard.

Okay so Iโ€™ve been going through such a rough book slump atm but Iโ€™m so happy that this was the book that I read after it!

I love love love the beginning even before you get into the book with the mini dictionary, trigger warnings and other explanations! It really helps someone who knows absolutely nothing about rodeos and anything cowboy to follow along. Itโ€™s the small details that really help you get in the mind of the author and show how passionate they are!

It makes me so happy seeing the MMC falling first, he is such a gentleman and a joy to read. Their story is so heartfelt and deep and was so nice that it wasnโ€™t all about the sexual chemistry but the one that runs deeper than that. It was also nice to see that there was no third act breakup/fall out which was really refreshing and no miscommunication!

I am so glad to have been chosen to read this arc because it was amazing and didnโ€™t feel like a usual romance book. I truly hope there will be another one cause I most definitely will be reading!

Dual POV, Spicy, Cowboy Romance, Care Taking, He Falls First & Harder, Male Friend Group, Black Cat FMC x Golden Retriever MMC

The romance between Ellison and Colter is one sided at first, one of those cute meets where the MMC instantly knows they are supposed to be together and the FMC slowly allows him into her life and her heart. The way Colter is willing to be patient and work for Ellison's trust and affection made this an angsty, emotional read. I really appreciated the way HK Green put a lot of information about the realities of the competitive 'cowboy' life style and how much work goes into actually maintaining a ranch. I've read a lot of cowboy romances but this if the first one I've closed the book and felt like I really learned something true about the lifestyle. Green also handled the topics of grief and allowing yourself to love something you thought you never would again.

This is a book you just can't put down! Another great cowboy romance you should add to your TBR!

Although you could say this is quite strong on the insta-attraction, this book is a slow burn. The characters take their time to get to know each other before jumping into the next stage of their relationship.

Ellison is a feisty FMC with black cat characteristics which is the total opposite of the Golden retriever vibes I got from Colton. I love how he patient and understanding he is with her. One of the strong aspect of this story for sure! The character are very mature and although they need time to open up it's always handled with a lot of care and love for each other even when they are just friends.

Both characters go through a healing journey in this book but I feel like we don't get enough insight on everything Ellison is going through. Mostly at the end it did feel like she was dedicated to Colton's life and his battles.

Overall this was a very enjoyable read which I would recommend.

This was a really emotional story. Both MC's are dealing with their own grief and they ultimately help each other through.

Emmie could have such a strong force in this story. I wish she wasn't written to revolve around our MMC.

Colter was great. He was dynamic & evolved. He knew his faults & insecurities, and he worked towards making sure Emmie felt comfortable, safe, & that he was worth her trust.

The side charactors are all great. I'm excited to see Mikey get tamed.

Being a small town girl myself I love an author who makes a book about real life ranch and cowboy life.  This book is it!! They show all sides and emotions of cowboys life and it was so good!

Ellison lost her dad at the rodeo and she lost herself as well.  A chance encounter with a cowboy brings her back to life.  Colter takes apart her defenses โ€œbrick by brickโ€.

This book was a slow burn as Colter really gave Ellison the time to see what she wanted and controlled  his doubts of being โ€œgood enough.โ€

This book is a perfect cowboy romance I hope we get to see all the boys find their loves!

Thank you to H.K. Green for the ARC copy of this book! Ellison is the daughter of a rodeo legend who was killed in an accident trying to move past her grief 15 years later. Colter is a rodeo cowboy who after getting dumped via text has trouble trusting and some confidence issues. After a few chance encounters, Colter persuades Ellison to give him a chance and grab coffee. This is a story of love, loss, and not letting fear stop you from getting back on the horse (pun totally intended). I am an absolute sucker for a cowboy/rodeo/ranch romance, so I was so excited when I got selected to ARC read. Unfortunately, this falls a tad flat for me a in a few areas, specifically the lack of raw chemistry between Ellie and Colter and the third act. This is still a fun read though!
