This was just as messy and chaotic as I had hoped it would be.

Somehow I've been pulled deep into the Carltonverse, and at this point I'm in too deep not to continue reading.
This book has a lot of potential to tie in with the main duology, and it fell severely behind on that potential. The first 90% of this book felt repetitive, boring, and predictable, and only in the very last chapter is anything interesting happening, with Sibel having to (unsuccessfully attempt to) work through her trauma and abuse, and the mentally illness she has acquired as a consequence.
I cannot feel comfortable with the disturbing mix of a developmentally disabled person being incredibly sexualised. I don't even want to call it spice because it's just disturbing. Yet I'll give the book an additional star because of the few pages of Sibel actually maybe perhaps in an alternative universe being even remotely close to actually realising her henchmen aren't real and dealing with her trauma.
