I have to admit that in this case I didn't really bother to read the blurb. I saw the cover and I was actually already sold, especially because it doesn't happen that often that a true fantasy doesn't work for me. I also really trust the author. I've read more books by the author and they were all well written, entertaining and great. So, when I got the chance to get an arc of this book I didn't hesitate and said yes.

This book is very clearly the first book in a fantasy series. The author really takes her time to introduce us to everything. We meet the heroine of the story in the very first chapter. We get to see what her daily life is like, what kind of childhood she had, the friends she made and the issues she has to deal with. We also learn about her motivations and wants and follow her making her dream come true.

The same is done with the hero, the world and the politics. At times that makes the book feel a little slow, although I never really grew bored. As a reader you know that at some point something is going to happen that's gonna chance everything and it takes a surprisingly long time before the bomb drops. And even then it takes until the very last page of the book to understand the consequences of the dropped bomb. Not that we get answers then. We get a cliffhanger.

However, I'm really intrigued with this series, especially because the author did such an amazing job building everything up. I got very attached to the heroine, even if she's not my usual kind of heroine. My feelings on the hero are a little more reserved, but I'm pretty sure he had his reasons for being whoever he was being. I especially loved how curious the author made me to get answers and to explore the rest of this world.

I therefore can't wait to read the next book!

The story had potential but it so poorly written . I dropped the book at 60%. The author repeated herself the whole time!! 60% in and nothing really is happening. We just go around in circles.

I'm not much of a reader of the fae world, but this book intrigued me, so without giving any spoilers away I will say I was surprised at how much once I started reading it I couldn't put it down. The 2 mc's Senara and Thorn both in the King's employment though at the 1st time they meet is in a tavern where Senara think's it's just a one time thing, but lil does she thing's have a way of not going as planned as she realizes the next day when she realizes he's her commander's boss and he's also known as the Blade of the King.

There was alot of thing's that went on in here, but the one thing that they both realized was that even though they had to stay away from each other they realized they couldn't fight it until something happened and now she and her bestfriend Wyn are in serious trouble. This does end on a shocking cliffhanger

good read

This is a fantasy romance book set in a medieval world.

Senara was born with the mark of the moon on her back and her best friend is a magic touched. They bonded as children in a monarchy that has made any sort of magic illegal. Their parents abandoning them to the streets. Growing up to lead very different lives Senara joining the military and Wyn becoming a castle librarian, the girls finally have the opportunity to be near each other again. Senara’s been chosen to join the Kings royal guard. Now she just had to make sure to keep her mark hidden and keep Wyn’s magic from being discovered.

This was a great story however a little long and repetitive in between the big moments. I definitely enjoyed it and for sure awaiting the release of book 2.

This could have been a good story, but it was in desperate need of an editor. There were so many typos, misspellings, and even places where a space was forgotten! I also felt like the characters weren’t fully fleshed out… kind of read like a first draft.
