2.5. I don't think erotica is a genre for me! But even so, reading this book the whole time I thought it was a pretty solid read. I was content giving this a 3 stars, but when they finally revealed the big secret I was so disappointed. It was so anticlimactic. But I will be finishing this series though

This was tough to read. This made 50 shades look like art. Skye just was not likable to me and there is very little plot.

My gosh! This book is bloody fabulous! Having only read the Steel Brothers series and a few from another series by Helen Hardt, this book was a complete turn around and so addicting ! I could not put it down!!

Skye Manning has control over everything in her life, but when she meets Braden Black, their chemistry is something else. As he begins to let her in slowly, there’s one thing he wants from her, and it’s something she needs to in charge of. Will she learn to give up control, to venture into a new world with Braden?

Woah... Alright, so where do I start? Follow Me Darkly has been on my radar since it was announced that Helen Hardt was coming out with a new series. The blurb and cover lured me from the beginning and it became one of my most anticipated reads for 2020. I went in not sure what to expect. It's a bit different from this author's normal style, but in saying that, she did not disappoint. AT ALL. I think I may have found my new favorite by this author.

In Follow Me Darkly, we have Braden, the self-made billionaire. He's possessive, dominant, desirable, and sexy as hell. He has worked hard to be where he is and never forgets where he's come from but he holds secrets, making mysterious and intriguing as hell.

Skye is a country girl from Kansas, she is an assistant to social media influencer Addison Ames. Her job lets her do the thing she loves most, and that's photography. She struggles to give up control in most things, even in the bedroom.

These two come together after Braden leaves some comments on Addie's Instagram that Skye manages and that same day they find themselves out for dinner and the moment they are in the same room, the chemistry between them becomes known. The moment Braden met Skye, he knew that he needed her and he makes her a proposition that she can't refuse. The thing is... These two both crave control in the bedroom... So one of them has to give up the control, which is Skye, but will she be able to?

I won't dive in much deeper than that, but I will say that this was so much more than what I expected. I knew the author would deliver an amazing start to the series but this had so much more to it than first met my eye. It's got the dom/sub feel to it, with a nice twist of darkness... and oh how I loved the darkness! It completely consumed me and I'm in love with the mysterious Bredan, I want and need to know more about this man. This was all-consuming, alluring, and addictive and I cannot wait to see what the author has up her sleeve next for these two.

5++++++ Stars!

Billionaire grooms younger, sexually naive, aspiring-photographer.
There's a lot of repeated words and phrases that get really annoying to reread. Or like just rephrase the same thing a sentence later for no reason. It's a lot of repetition. (see that. see what we did there. picture a book of that)
The heroine is so unsure of herself, and feels so underdeveloped of what type of person she is is wild. Like "I'll order a martini. But I love wild turkey. He ordered wild turkey, I wish I did so we could bond over liking a common thing. Why didn't I? O I wish I had some. O we're eating now, this drink really does complement it better. But wild turkey." So much of who she is is just waffling and questioning her own likes? (and quite honestly. honestly . can we talk about how you are a type of person who wants and likes sex, but don't know what turns you on and have never had an orgasm regardless of anything you've tried, until enter magic dick)

other irritating things
*again if you don't like porn, why are you trying to watch it
*no shit someone guesses that you want to have a photo in national geographic... because you're a photographer and it's an obvious goal
*just cause someone buys you a puppy doesn't mean they are in the same =romantic love relationship point that you are imagining you are at
*can we talk about how this family is only B names of Bobby, Ben, and Braden Black
*it is unhealthy for your employer to throw a fit and dump out and go through your personal property
*also red flag should have been pointed out when said employer throws their phone regularly
*it is ok for consenting adults to have whatever kind of sex they want. can we stop making it sound like if someone has any kind of deviation from societal norms that it's akin to slaughtering newborn lambs and wearing their hooves.

everyone please just take a break from "ominous dark and brooding" we've got enough of them.

looking back a week later why am i still upset at this?

bestie friend that only exists to further plot-
need a dress to go to fancy shindig, bam got the hookup.
reason for couple to hang out, convinces friend and is able to be ditched multiple times at a moments notice so couple can enjoy time together,
what you want to find out more info about why his ex and him broke up? well guess who has been chumming it up with an old friend of the ex who has the scoop? right your friend that i'm not sure has a job beyond getting you laid

still don't know why Skye is so anal about being in control. she can't give up control. wah wah blah control. she doesn't seem to carry this quality with other things, so it just is what- a character personality to create tension and a means to 'break' her

Literally have spent too much brain power lingering on this

This is a very hot sensual story, with two great characters, Braden and Skye's story will drag you from the start, will have you fanning yourself and reading non-stop until you are done and then you will be begging for more. The chemistry is brilliantly done, they are both dynamite. I like the story line, yes there are steamy scenes but the story is entertaining and will have you reading in no time, can't wait for the next one.

I love love love billionaire romance. I read this series a bit out of order, but I loved getting all the background info about Skye and her life before meeting Braden. I thought the influencer career was cool to get a glimpse into and I think Skye's southern personality mixed well with Braden's city boy lifestyle. The spice was a good time and delightful and while it was a good chunk of the boo, there were character arcs tied in nicely. I'm excited to read the rest of these and I'm hoping Braden will open up more as his relationship with Skye progresses. Overall, definitely a ton of swoony moments as well as empowering ones and I really enjoyed reading this one.
