Follow Me Darkly is the first book in the Follow Me series by Helen Hardt.
Boy meets girl, boy is enamored with girl, boy must possess girl. It helps is you are a billionaire who is of course sexy and fantastic in bed. Skye isn't looking to start a relationship and she's ill prepared to deal with the darkness that comes with Braden, but she's drawn to him like a moth with a flame. There is no stopping the chemistry and even Braden is acting not quite himself. But the past may ultimately creep up and create havoc, especially when secrets have a way of being uncovered. Even with them hardly knowing each other they've created a bond that looks to be tested before they are ready.

Oh, Braden Black, I'll follow you anywhere!
This book is a brand-new series launcher for Ms. Hardt, who proves that all dominant billionaires definitely aren't the same. I am so smitten with this leading man, who comes from humble beginnings and actually hasn't forgotten about the fact. His power is the kind that turns this girl into a puddle: it comes from within, and it's communicated through an inner confidence that goes far beyond growls and glowers. I mean, the guy even has a soft spot for rescue puppies. Seriously, just...SIGH.
For all of the lines that Braden is uniquely drawn by, my favorite aspect of the book was actually his heroine. Skye Manning is a fresh face in Boston, hoping to make a name for herself by working up the ranks in the photography world. While she succumbs to an instant and electric attraction to Braden, she's not a wide-eyed innocent needing all her self-validation from a man. She's ambitious, smart, and--on a few occasions--genuinely troubled by the things she feels when she's near this man. Still, she's not afraid to tell him what she needs from him, and is even stands up for their relationship when challenged by her headstrong boss.
Ironically, Helen Hardt's gift for engaging storytelling and unforgettable characters is at its full shine in "Follow Me Darkly". I'm so thrilled there's more of the sexy shadows of this world to come!

I feel like this was a total bite off of Fifty Shades. There were so many scenes in which I felt that I had already read. The one saving grace is that the female protagonist didn’t constantly say “oh my.”
WOW!!!! What a way to start a new series, this book was absolutely AMAZING!!!!! I need the next book ASAP!!!
WOW! Is it HOT in here?
Braden & Skye almost set my kindle on fire. The heat between them was a bright shiny focal point in this story.
Skye really drew me in. That push for her to let go of the safety net and give up that control... I felt that battle in my soul.
But Braden... came into the scene ready to take over and run the world. And I loved that as well.
The only thing that I wanted and didn’t get was a tiny bit more focus on the romantic aspect. The sexy was phenomenal, the character development was fantastic, I just needed a little more oomph from the romance itself.
This is my first read by Hardt, so I don’t know if all of her books are like this, but I intend to find out.

Es bueno para empezar la literatura erótica, pero hay mejores, para empezar es bien, porque por decirlo de alguna manera va adentrándote a ese mundo no es que es todo de golpe

Follow Me Darkly definitely caught my attention!
While Braden and Skye were a bit too instalove for my taste they were definitely hot together! Although their scenes together were super steamy it was the secrets and the unknown that kept me interested! Their story kept me guessing and without giving anything away when the secrets start to unfold it just got even better.
I also liked reading about Skye getting a bit of a backbone and discovering who she is and what she can really do with her life. She just needed the push to get away from her toxic boss. Braden is still a bit of a mystery for me but he is definitely that bad boy we all want to fix! This book ended on a cliffhanger and I can't wait until January to find out what happens next for this couple!

Three stars. Very easy and enjoyable read but it was lacking in terms of character depth.
I wanted to know more about Skye, it’s understandable to not know much about Braden’s past but I felt a lack of personality coming across in his descriptions.
Personally, I was more interested in Skye’s budding influencer career. I really enjoyed reading the interaction between her and the cashier at the Susanne counter. I felt like that explored more of her love for colours, art and photography.
It would’ve been nice to just see… more between her and Braden. She’s already saying I love you? And he is also??? I mean in terms of what Betsy said at the end, if it’s true, him saying that is a façade but as for Skye I would’ve liked more. It would’ve been nice to see a page about how she loved the idea of who she became with him but found herself falling for him? We only had a short sentence about how she knew she loved him without knowing much about him but I felt like there could be more.
Aside from growing up and struggling or that he likes stew we literally found out NOTHING about Braden which was a disappointment. I would’ve really liked to even see maybe an interaction with his brother? Ben. It felt like Ben was mentioned only a couple times so the reader often forgets about him.
Aside from those issues, I enjoyed this read. The writing was good and smooth, each chapter cohesive. I felt like Skye had her own personality and her best friend was an actual best friend compared to a lot of romances you can read these days. The fact that Tessa went above and beyond for her was a really nice touch.
I’m definitely going to read the second one after that ending because I’m intrigued.

I have read all of Helen Hardt's "Steel Brothers" books. I have enjoyed the back stories and tolerated the sex scenes. So, I was anxious to read this story by her. I was slightly disappointed. The whole time I felt like I was reading a 50 Shades of Grey knock-off. So many things were the same....Black (vs Grey), being a dominating billionaire, the riding crop, the fundraiser gala where the girl wore a sex toy under her clothes, the feathered mask, even the word "beguiled" was thrown in there. Nothing came as a surprise or seemed original. I am interested to see how the whole Addison thing plays out, so I will of course, read on when the next book comes out. But, I hope it has more originality.
