Three stars for the majority of the book; four stars for the narration (though the accent situation was confusing) and the wee twist at the end.

What could be more fun than dragging a bobcat around on a leash at some Scottish highland games? Twenty-something amateur sleuth Elizabeth MacPherson hopes to find out when she visits the games for a weekend with her actor cousin in tow. She has promised to take care of a bobcat mascot that would feature prominently at the games. He’s doing the bobcat thing as a favor to a friend.

Before the weekend ends, someone murders Colin Campbell, the president of the Campbell clan, and it’s a race against time for Elizabeth as she seeks to solve Campbell’s murder before another one is committed.

This third installment in the series is full of zany slapstick comedy—too full of it to suit me. Clearly my sense of humor is underdeveloped. I found myself thinking many of the humor bits were more stupid or silly than funny. This is in no way a deal breaker for me where this series is concerned. Elizabeth MacPherson is far too fascinating to abandon after only three books.

I liked this much, much better than Lovely In Her Bones, which I had read immediately prior. McCrumb's take on the Scottish festival was priceless, though again the mystery part of it seemed almost inconsequential.

Decent read, but uninspired mystery. Too neatly wrapped up without any closure on the future of the romantic plotline.
