Chloe Liese always knocks it out of the park. The Bergman siblings all have a place in my heart and I was so happy to finally be reading Oliver's story.
The Grumpy/ Sunshine trope is always a winner in my book and this book was no exception. This book was so much fun to read but was also filled with loads of emotions.
“It’s okay to be scared,” she says. “If you feel ready, if he comes to you, tell him what you’re afraid of. That’s intimacy. Be brave in trusting him with your truth. You got this, Ollie. And remember: you are enough, just as you are... Believe in yourself, in your worth, that you’re enough. Because you are.” Oof my heart.

The best MM romance I've ever read 🥰🥰 Grumpy Gavin and Sunshine Oliver Bergman! Wowwwwww it also sorta reminded me of Kulti in the way that Ollie had a crush on Gavin when he was younger and grew to play soccer on the same team as Gavin! Gavin is an super soccer star - very one-track-mind for winning games. His body is wearing down though. Their coach assigns Gavin and Ollie to be co-captains and their bickering has to stop or they forfeit their captain position. A little bit of mischievous pranks for one another, cute babysitting date, and steamy spicy scenes that were very heartfelt! I love how Chloe Liese makes the emotions so strong and that I'm along for any and every ride she writes 🥰Also, I freaking love how opposites attract they are -- Ollie is rainbow sunshine everything and Gavin is gray/black solid colors to match his grumpy exterior 🥰🥰
This series grew on me, even though I admired the ambitiously and well crafted characters from the start. I love how genuine the characters feel, the warm family dynamics, and the words and phrases they use (all of the Bergmans members are extremely gifted with words). The reason I wasn’t fully blown away at first, was because in none of the novel there was anything at stake (except for the love interest themselves, obviously). But now I know that is not how this series rolls (the stakes are within the characters, their growth, and how they deal with their fears and believes) I grow very fond of it and enjoy how the characters fall for each other, and learn to love and be loved.
Gavin and Oliver’s story has a character driven plot, and it’s wonderful to see how both of them deal with their past experiences and allow themselves to love again.
The falling in love part is the best part of any romance, that’s just the way it is, so I might have wanted to see more of Gavin and Oliver’s early interactions. A longer part of longing, to really root for them to chase for their happy ever after.
Very looking forward to Ziggy and Viggo’s stories!
