A real page turner. Who

A friend of mine from work lent me this book. I don’t often read mystery/thriller or murder mystery style books but I have enjoyed them in the past. I didn’t start this book for weeks and once I started it I was basically hooked! It was exciting, I really enjoy murder mystery’s that include little hints throughout the book as well as red herrings. I also like the fact that this was a closed space setting, no wifi, snowed in, no power. It made the book so much more thrilling, wondering who might get gutted next at each turn of the page.

Slight spoilers (no names revealed)

I quite enjoyed the little twist at the end of the book! The big reveal was just as good, the author did a great job of sort of “putting it all together”. However that little twist was such a bold badass thing to do haha.

I love a good cabin in woods during a winter storm whodunnit mystery. I really enjoy Shari lapena books for the quick easy reads. Did get a little confused in the beginning but I stuck through and enjoyed it

A bit far fetched. More of a beach read.

I think it was a good book overall, I was expecting a great plot twist, but nope. Still a good mystery book!

Ha estado bien. Me gustó el desarrollo de cada personaje y es una historia ágil que me mantuvo bastante enganchada hasta el final.

I'd never read a book by Shari Lapena before jumping into An Unwanted Guest, but I'd heard good things about her other books. I ended up loving this one and it's made me want to pick up more of her work.

The book was fantastic. It starts off calm, a nice trip to a Lodge, but quite quickly things start to go wrong. The end up huddling together hoping they can outlast the storm and the deadly things that could be lurking inside.

This book gave me chills. I was constantly on the edge of my seat, trying to work out what was going on and who I could trust. In many ways it reminded me of an Agatha Christie book and I loved it.

I was constantly guessing at who the murderer was and who wasn't. At many points I thought it was a complete outsider and there were times where I thought it was one of the main characters. I loved that I was constantly guessing and the twist at the end was a complete surprise.

I highly recommend this book. The thriller/mystery genre is one of my new favourites and An Unwanted Guest is one of my recent favourites. I think I'll be picking up more of Shari Lapena's books sometime soon.
