An Unwanted Guest gave me definite Clue vibes, and the dark, blizzardy atmosphere was the perfect setting for this whodunnit.
Although I didn’t find myself scouring the pages to figure out the ending, it did keep me entertained throughout. One thing that bummed me out was I had zero guesses/investments into who was actually committing the murders - I never felt like there was enough of a motive to suspect any of them. So I thought the ending/“reveal” could have been better. It was a fun read, just somewhat middle of the road for me.

There’s something about this that’s lacking.
It has an Agatha Christie feel to it... and it’s basically an updated version of “Clue” which I LOVE but this book was bleh.
I DO highly recommend Lapena's previous work, [b:The Couple Next Door|28815474|The Couple Next Door|Shari Lapena|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1471502242s/28815474.jpg|48284103], if you enjoy psychological thrillers.

This was such a fun classic whounit with a double twist!
Unfortunately I was really disappointed with this book. I've read her other two books and couldn't put them down. Both kept me on the edge of my seat and recommending them to everyone I knew.
The characters in this book made me feel like I was reading another version of "Clue". I didn't feel a rush in moments that should have been page turners. I may have had my expectations up pretty high due to her other great reads.

This was a quick and easy read that came highly recommended from a couple of girls in my book club. It underlined to me once again that our tastes in books are highly divergent!
I flew through this book, not necessarily because it was particularly riveting but the language was simple and the plot fairly fast paced. The multiple murders (and the guests' subsequent reactions to them) were beginning to get tiresome, I would say.
It wasn't a horrible book, but it's not the type that I will eagerly press into the hands of friends. Happy to return it to my book club friend and be done with it. :)
