I gave this 4 stars but probably more like 3.50 or 3.75. It’s not that I disliked the book because I did enjoy it, however, I have read all of her other books and this one was my least favorite. One of the things I like the most about her books is the police detectives and their investigation and this one was definitely lacking that until almost the end. It seems the thing that led them to the killer was too easy. Overall still enjoyable but like her others better.
*3.5*
I knew very little about the plot going in to this book, other than a bunch of people are staying at a remote hotel in winter, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect going in.
The atmosphere was definitely my favorite part, it had this creepy feel that really sucked me in. I also enjoyed the bulk of the story immensely, I was never sure what would happen next, and that's always a lot of fun in a thriller. The characters weren't too likable, but I don't think they were supposed to be. David was probably the best one to me, mostly just because he actually has some common sense and intelligence. The ending was okay, it wasn't as satisfying as I would've liked, but it could've been way worse. As for that final twist...
Overall a pretty good read, it really makes me want to read more by Shari Lapena.

I hated the married couple throughout the whole story, especially Henry, but that just left a sour taste in my mouth. It just seemed a little hard to believe I guess.Overall a pretty good read, it really makes me want to read more by Shari Lapena.
Very Agatha Christie-esque. Found the ending scenes and conclusions trite and unsatisfying.

I gave this another go after being disinterested after the first few chapters. Maybe I was having an off day since my second attempt had me curious. I liked the whodunnit murder mystery concept although I found myself bored or distracted a lot. I appreciate a plot that I can’t figure out in the beginning & these characters weren’t terribly obvious since, of course, we are to suspect they all could be the killer.
