This book. It punched me in the gut, it kicked me, it made me cry. And I’m still going to read it again and again and again. I can’t get over how much I love this book. It’s message is one everyone needs to understand- no matter how uncomfortable it is. Black stories need to be told and listened to, and this book is so perfect. It’s full of justice and hatred and sadness and joy. If you need to read one book, read this one.

Basically Pretty Little Liars but with white suprematism cult and hardcore racial bullying.

Whew, I liked the plot of this book but it’s a heavy one. At times the social justice theme was overdone and it felt forced into the narrative. I really liked Devon’s POV, he was written really well. I enjoyed the ending and after part 2, it’s a page turner. A quick read, not my favorite but enjoyable nonetheless.
