slow burn for the first half. i didn’t feel like the story was very believable for high school - sort of like riverdale. second time i picked it up i couldn’t put it down. i like the two main characters a lot but everyone else im like FOR REAL????? anyways solid read

I really enjoyed this book. I do think the middle of the book started to get really sluggish and it put me in a bit of a slump, but pushing through to the end of Act II really helped get me back into the book! I will say
revealing that Headmaster Ward was Aces fell a little flat for me. I was expecting some grand reveal but it was just like this event happened, he came up and talked to Chiamaka and Devon, and then Devon later referred to him as Aces in his thoughts.
I also don't understand why they didn't talk to their parents about what was going on...

read this book for the first time in 2021

but it never fails to shock me at alllll. this book was so good because it touched on the real world impacts as well as making it a tad relatable. as well as the story not being typical -
aces not being one person but EVERYONE. (social eugenics) and it was so interesting and i love love loved the plot.

The tension was great! Ending felt a little lack luster.
