just realized i put the review for a different book than this one in here but whatever.

1000000/5 stars

in my probably 13 years of reading, i do not have any memory of crying over a book and definitely not as i was reading it. but thanks to this book, that’s not true anymore! there was a whole chapter near the end where i just had my shirt stuffed up my nostrils because i couldn’t stop my nose from running; then a couple pages later i had to stop reading for 30 seconds because i couldn’t see the words through my literal tears. then at the very end i watched teardrops fall from my face onto my bed. i didn’t even realize i was crying. this book has WRECKED me. highly recommend

I picked up this book because I wanted a tearjerking read and whew, it definitely delivered. It broke my heart, but in a beautiful sort of way. I very quickly fell in love with the characters, their stories, their personalities, and their relationships and while the ending was not a surprise, I enjoyed the twists and creative ways the story unfolded through both Lenni & Margot's voices.

I love a book that celebrates intergeneragional friendships. This was a beautiful story and I am very excited for the film!
