Minor: Death
I'm having a really hard time rating this one.
I usually love strange books. Strange as in a lot of humor, and some "what the heck??" moments. But this one gave me a hard time.
I really disliked it in the beginning. I even read the "worst" parts to my husband because I thought them so bad.
But something happened. I couldn't stop reading. I just couldn't. With time I actually got used to this extremely strange story. And once I stopped being thrown by the strange setting, I actually started to enjoy reading it. What actually had me engaged was the humor in there. Rather dry and black humor at times - and I love that.
Disliking it THAT much in the beginning might have to do with me not liking fairy tales. Never did, not even as a child. So if you do like fairy tales, the start might be way easier for you.
So I'll give it three stars. Because in the end I did like it. (Might even read the next one...)

Pretty good for a young adult series. Fun to read, some great magic and some wonderful characters. Dialog was a little young, but it is for a younger audience, so it made sense.
