melville would have an absolutely heinous grindr bio

I know some consider this to be the great American novel, but it just isn't for me. I wouldn't have finished it if I didn't have to, and I rarely ever stop reading a book after I start. There are too many interesting novels out there that I want to read for me to spend my time reading something I don't love, and I certainly didn't love this.

Was it worth it? I couldn’t say. But I accomplished something and that is worth noting, at the very least. I learned today. I read this important book. I have to write a term paper about it. But it is finally over

Ugh. I had to read this book for a class, and at least I can say I've read the whole thing. It's true what people say about this novel; it's really two books in one. Part adventure novel, part encyclopedia of whaling, I found the adventure portions extremely entertaining, but the encyclopedia portions, though interesting, did not really add anything to the plot-line.

It is tough to chew this book, but it is filled with so much!

Say, you are in the country; in some high land of lakes. Take almost any path you please, and ten to one it carries you down in a dale, and leaves you there by a pool in the stream. Ch. 1

Moby Dick had reaped away Ahab's leg, as a mower a blade of grass in the field. Ch. 51

Halloo, here's grass growing in the boat's bottom—and by the Lord, the mast there's budding. Ch. 71
